Florian Slotawa setzt sich mit der Wahrnehmung von Realität und mit dem aus ihr abgeleiteten Kunstbegriff auseinander. Er erstellt Skulpturen und temporäre Installationen aus Gebrauchsgegenständen und verleiht dadurch den Dingen eine neue Funktion.

Für die Ausstellung in der Sies + Höke Galerie nimmt Florian Slotawa den aktuellen Umstand seines Atelierwechsels zum Anlass für seine skulpturale Intervention. Der Fundus an Inventar und Objekten aus dem Atelier wird zum bildhauerischen Material, das sich mit der besonderen Architektur der Galerieräume in der Poststr. 2 verbindet. Die Skulpturen und Installationen werden unmittelbar mit den Räumen der Galerie verwoben und treten so in ein Wechselspiel mit ihnen.

Zentral für Slotawas Arbeiten ist das Moment des Austausches und des Prozesshaften.
Indem er bereits vorhandenes Material mit einer vorgefundenen Situation verknüpft, wird eine bestimmte Situation aus dem Leben in den Kunstkontext überführt. Durch den Austausch und fließenden Übergang zwischen Kunstwerk und Privatbesitz, zwischen Museum, Wohnung, Baumarkt und Einrichtungshaus, sind Slotawas Arrangements nie Ballast, sondern Ausstellungsobjekt wie auch Alltagsgegenstand. Sie bewegen sich in ständiger Zirkulation zwischen Öffentlichkeit, Markt und Privatsphäre, lösen überkommene Besitzverhältnisse auf und stellen diese damit in Frage.

Parallel zur Ausstellung in der Galerie wird im Projekt Solothurn, aussen die Arbeitsweise des Künstlers in dem Sinne anschaulich, dass er die vorgefundenen klassischen Skulpturen im Park des Kunstmuseums Solothurn für die Dauer von 4 Monaten versetzt und zu einer neuen skulpturalen Anordnung verdichtet.

Gleichzeitig ist Slotawa im Arthouse, Austin/Texas zu sehen. Für seine Einzelausstellung One After The Other ließ er neue Wände in das Gebäude einziehen und ändert damit die Raumfolge. Die Kombination der neuen weißen Wände mit den alten Gemäuern des ehemaligen Theaters verbindet Gegenwart und Vergangenheit und verleiht den vergessenen architektonischen Elementen einen bildhaften Charakter.

Florian Slotawa deals with the perception of reality and the art term that is deflected from it. He creates sculptures and temporal installations out of common things and gives them a new function.

For the exhibition at Sies + Höke Florian Slotawa uses the topical circumstances of his change of studio for his sculptural intervention. The store of inventory and objects from his studio becomes the material for the sculptures that are combined with the unique architectural of the showrooms of Poststr. 2. The sculptures and installations are directly integrated into the showrooms of the gallery which results in an interrelation between them.

Central for Slotawas work is the moment of exchange and process. By combining given material with a found situation, a certain situation of life is shown in the context of art. With the exchange and the transition between art and private possessions, between museum, accommodation, home improvement store and furniture store, Slotawas arrangements are never ballast, but exhibition objects as well as everyday object. They move in constant circulation between the public, the market and privacy, liquidate overcrowded possessions and question them at the same time.

Parallel to the exhibition in the gallery the artists way to work is shown in another sense with the project Solothurn, aussen, where he placed the classical sculptures of the Kunstmuseum Solothurn together into a new sculptural grouping for the duration of 4 months.

At the same time Slotawa is to be seen at the Arthouse, Austin/Texas. For his soloshow One After The Other he fitted new walls into the building and changed the room order. The combination of the new white walls and the old walls of the former theatre combines present and past and gives the forgotten architectural elements a graphic character.
