AMSTERDAM WHITNEY GALLERY, located at 511 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York City, is proud to showcase in its JUNE 1- JUNE 26, 2007 Exhibition four leading Contemporary Master Exhibitions which shine the spotlight on a group of artists whose works run the gamut from figurative to surrealist, abstract and landscape. AMSTERDAM WHITNEY GALLERY continues to present the innovative art of the Contemporary Master of Photomontage, S.M. LEWIS.

“LEXIS of LIFE”
Inspired by an eloquent understanding of the human body and a dedicated pursuit of the ability to convey expression through body language, the three artists featured in “LEXIS of LIFE” exuberantly celebrate and extol the ability to communicate feeling through the presentation of the human form. The bronze sculptures created by J.R. EASON radiate with expressive gestures, contemplative faces, and pensive expressions depicting peaceful meditation; her works exude a sense of understanding and knowledge reborn in sculptural form with the wisdom and beauty that only the passage of time can bestow. The collage works by Contemporary Master CLIFFORD FAUST depict an utterly vibrant desire to examine the human figure in context of its surroundings while translating for the audience the connection that the artist visualizes between his subjects; Mr. Faust’s love for humanity shines through in his delicate handling of human interaction. Using vivid colors and dominating figures, CATHI LOCATI successfully illustrates the fundamental characteristics of determination, strength, and persistence by celebrating through depiction authoritative women engaging in activities traditionally and stereotypically reserved for the male figure within our society.

“HEAVEN on EARTH”
Energetically effervescent palettes combined with an ecstatic pursuit of nature’s aesthetics and the entrancing qualities of tranquil communication with the organic world defines the works of the four celebrated artists featured in “HEAVEN on EARTH”. Transcending the conventional forms of landscape photography, RENETTE DORA JODOIN’s depictions are supremely enchanting and reach the highest echelons of charismatic fascination through a concentration on and exploitation of the delicate yet powerful innate contrasts in the environment. Artist JO SHEPHERD RIPLEY exploits ebullient colors and their contrasts in her exploration of the transcendental beauty of the world while simultaneously conveying her own identity and immaculate visions through her inspirational artwork. SALLY RUDDY’s paintings are powerful yet gentle and possess the ability to probe into the arcane facets of human emotions with an incomparable grace while communicating an unrivaled sense of spirituality and ecstasy that transcend the everyday world. Contemporary Master Artist ANNE PRICE YATES continues the long respected neo-impressionistic tradition in her delectably pleasing landscape paintings in which she seeks to captivate nature in its most restful and serene state, capturing the sublime aura of landscapes developed "en plein air".

“MIRRORS of the IMAGINATION”
Sumptuous images of fictive splendor, playful wonder, and resonating power mark the works of the three featured artists displayed in “MIRRORS of the IMAGINATION.” Resonating with ripe human emotions, the paintings of CLJ LANCASTER portray mysterious atmospheric scenes complete with sinewy, willow-like figures that exude an evanescent quality of mysticism which inevitably sparks a conversation of spiritual contemplation within the viewer, extending an invitation to ponder the darkness of evil when juxtaposed against the brilliance of the angelic. A truly dexterous artist, VALERIE MEOTTI embraces all mediums, producing beautiful watercolors as well as enticing mixed media works which share the common derivation of inspiration in the plethora of beauty and endless energy which nature possesses. The works of art created by GIGI TURKER are sensual, celestial, and electrifyingly mystical yet simultaneously innovative and original; she transcends the conventional in her construction of art by incorporating additional paint onto prints of her paintings therefore literally infusing her works with her own personal touch through the sincere gentleness of her own fingertips.

“DIVERTIMENTOS FANTASTIQUES”
Developing from a number of diverse, intertwining sources of inspiration, ultimately seeking the mastery of energetic color and communicative surface texture, the three artists displayed in “DIVERTIMENTOS FANTASTIQUES” have sought to depict scenes of unadulterated sophisticated originality and creative novelty. OLGA ARNOW uses the entirety of the canvas as she explores different relationships; relationships of color, of nature, and most importantly the relation of one's own perception of reality by utilizing bold, pure colors to create tensions and contrasts on the search of the aesthetic ideal. Working in two very distinct painting styles, RAY MANTELLA ventures into realms of the unknown as well as the idea of the infinite in the execution of exquisite divisions and scintillating colors resulting in fashioned canvases that radiate with boundless energy and beam with measureless expression. The extraordinary paintings of Indiana based artist, SARAH GEE SWISHER, celebrate the divine obscurity of dreamlike fantasies, all the while, incorporating tangible worldly elements; by creating a surreal aesthetic Ms. Swisher invites the viewer to investigate their own states of whimsy and relate them to the work accordingly.
