Cristina Grajales Inc is pleased to present the first exhibition in the United States of the furniture and lighting designer, Christophe Come. Based in Paris, Come creates sculptural furniture and lighting design through his manipulation of industrial materials forming elegant and timeless works of art.

Originally trained as a sculptor, Christophe Come works with wrought iron that is paired with industrial glass and crystal producing unique objects. Shaped by hand, the fine quality of craftsmanship is evident in the attention to detail. Fascinated with the characteristics of glass, Come pushes the limits of the material through carving, melting, slumping and molding to form remarkable sculptures of light.

Sources of inspiration for designs range from architectural wrought ironwork to contemporary sculpture to objects found in nature. Come is an avid observer of the world and his perspective form the idiosyncrasies found in his designs. A true heir to the French tradition of modern design, his works evoke the architectural austerity of Pierre Chareau and echo the modern sensibility towards materials found in the work of Jean Royere. Nevertheless, Come’s work speaks with a unique voice that is surprisingly contemporary with his use of pure forms.

Christophe Come has a remarkable ability to elevate everyday objects to works of art. This exhibition will focus on a collection of unique furniture and lighting designs that illustrate the progression and experimentation in Christophe Come’s work over the years. Cristina Grajales Inc is pleased to publish a limited edition book to accompany the exhibition.
