The Byron C. Cohen for Contemporary Art presents Leslie Lerner: My Life in France, 1990-2005. In his fourth solo show, we have chosen to mount a one person show in both gallery spaces. This work, My Life in France, will focus on the paintings and drawings produced over his past years work. Last year, Leslie Lerner rapidly passed away from cancer and we felt strongly about honoring him and all his accomplishments. Lerner’s subject matter is comprised of memory, dreams, reveries and fantasies. In his narrative paintings, Leslie Lerner touches upon genres such as history, landscape, fairy-tale and romance. As stated by Jill Lerner (Leslie’s wife):

“For me, Leslie’s paintings have always been a mix of many things but most certainly one of a painters love of paint and of a man intrigued with our complicated world. Leslie’s paintings seem to be made of part memory, part dream – a glimpse into a dimension of life, familiar but not yet traveled.”

This show was co-curated with Jill Lerner.

These works will be on view at the Byron C. Cohen Gallery for Contemporary Art at 2020 Baltimore Ave., Suite 1N Kansas City, MO 64108.

Please join us for a discussion with Jill Lerner on Saturday, November 4 at 1 PM.

Gallery Hours are Thursday – Saturday 11 – 5 and by appointment.
