Susan Powell Fine Art will host the “Plein Air Paint Out Invitational” beginning on Friday, July 17th continuing through Sunday August 9th. As part of this event, the plein air painters will set up their easels at various locations throughout the week as they paint Madison and the unspoiled beauty of the Connecticut coastline and marshes that has inspired artists for over 100 years. Painted on site in the tradition of the plein air painters of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the canvases display spontaneity, rigor, and a sense of light specific to these locales. There will be an opening reception Saturday, July 25 from 4 – 6 pm. Open to the public, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the participating artists, purchase paintings produced during the plein air “paint out,” and also buy studio pieces by the participating artists. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
