The Lora Schlesinger Gallery is proud to present, Draw the Line, an exhibition bringing together a variety of artists with works executed with diverse techniques such as: ink, pastels, charcoal, pencil, graphite and silverpoint. Minimal forms to abstract shapes, narratives to the classical figure are only some of the chosen subject matter displayed in the show. The exhibition runs from June 13 through July 25th, with an opening reception Saturday evening, June 13, 5-7:00 pm.

With different settings in mind, both artists Lawrence Gipe and Penelope Gottlieb depict images of our society through their drawings. While Gipe depicts a dusky London train station at the turn of the century, Gottlieb gives us a series of sleek contemporary homes adorned with bright and colorful frames.

Like a simple note that is the foundation of a complex composition, in the works by Judith Foosaner, Sean Sullivan and Nancy Riegelman, the single line and/or shapes evolve into rhythmic yet complex energetic forms.

The animal kingdom comes to life in drawings by both Adonna Khare and John Geary, making the familiar hairy chimp as the center of their work for this show. Geary portrays the famous Cheetah, celebrating his old age with a birthday cake and a Coke, while Khare, portrays a female chimp holding her young on a throne- like platform, surrounded by several other creatures of the wild, that although more ferocious, are only depicted a third of the size of the two main sitters.

Other artists included in this exhibition are Bill Admundson, Peter Alexander, Hugo Crosthwaite, Justin Dahlberg, Marcel Dzama, Mercedes Helwein, Marianela de La Hoz, John Geary, Lynn Hanson, Salomon Huerta, Ira Korman, Brian Mains, Kim McCarty, Christopher Murphy, Robert Nelson, Enjeong Noh, Robin Palanker, Yuval Pudik, Chad Robertson, Patssi Valdez, Bill Vuksanovich, Patty Wickman, and Liu Yan.
