Artist Profile:
Born 1970 in Chachoengsao and lives and works in Nakornphrathom, Utai Nopsiri graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Silpakorn University. Utai’s work is unique in large wooden sculptures, entirely and painstakingly handcrafted without the use of electrical tools. In the wake of his debut solo Only Appearance, Utai received tremendous positive response from collectors and art audience at large. Utai then continued his solo exhibition Liberation with 100 Tonson Gallery in 2010 and had inevitably become one of 100 Tonson’s most prominent Thai artists. Moreover, he has participated in group exhibitions such as Beasts, Breasts & Beauty, Alliance Française Singapore, Singapore (2008) and Showcase Singapore, Singapore (2009). Utai also won numerous awards including 3rd Prize (Sculpture), 51st National Exhibition of Art, Bangkok (2005), 2nd Prize, Krung Thai Bank Award, 52nd National Exhibition of Art, Bangkok (2006).
