DescriptionA pair of Chinese Qing carved and polychromed ivory figures depicting standing Han Emperor Liu Bang and Empress Lü Zhi. The emperor holding sword and tassel, the empress holding figural lingzhi ruyi scepter. The pair wearing layered robe with high relief dragon and phoenix amongst clouds. Bottom of pair hold four character Qianlong calligraphy reign marks. Figures mounted to ivory high relief carved bases having dual dragons with flaming pearl. Each measuring approx. 17 7/8" height (45.4cm). Total weight of 5672 grams. Provenance: I. M. Chait 07/08/2012 sale lot 273.
