In a wide array of interrelated photographic projects Michael Wolf sets out to explore the complex cultural identity of China, where he has lived since 1994. Wolf is notably attentive to the particular traces of human life one finds within the anonymous density of the region’s urban areas, but his work also alludes to larger cultural and economic undercurrents in one of the world’s fastest growing countries.
