Internationally acclaimed Chinese Contemporary artist Zhong Biao’s exciting new series of stunning color silkscreen prints offer a dynamic selection of visually exciting narratives that all underscore what has made Zhong one of the greatest influences on the younger generations of Chinese representational painters.
"Itself" (2011) is a fantastic example of the manner in which Zhong depicts realistic renderings of displaced items, such as the included traditionally crafted chair, in contemporary public spaces, like a train station, to denote a temporality of passing life and memory, and the transition from one realm to the next. Dramatic abstracted flourishes of color extending from the far distance to the lower front of the print ignite the sensation of a powerful loss of understanding over a great expanse. Zhong Biao's work deals with the universal conflicting human emotions of disconnect from our dreams, to connection felt towards everyday, mundane life experiences that come together in Zhong’s realistically rendered “fantasy-scape” scenes. This print is loose as issued, measures 35.83 x 27.17 inches, is in excellent condition, and from an edition of 99.

The artist received his formal training 1987 at The Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts), Hangzhou, China. Zhong Biao has exhibited widely throughout U.S, including San Francisco, Aspen, New York, Miami, and Chicago. He has also had select solo and group exhibitions in The U.K., Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and China, and his paintings fetch over $100,000 USD at international auctions. He was also commissioned to design the most recent Official China World Cup poster, that formally represented China. The artist lives and works in China.
