Lot description
"Green Dog no. 06-11" (2006) is a vibrant, surreal oil painting by famed Chinese Contemporary artist Zheng Delong, that belongs to his acclaimed, Series of conceptual paintings of dogs, close-up portraits of these domestic animals transformed into spectral, futuristic apparitions painted with swirls and pools of color that feel ephemeral, like smoke or the rippled surface of water. Green is the color of good luck in China, something not lost on the artist, who selects his colors for each work carefully. His iconic manner of painting his subject reflects the artist's desire to represent both the spiritual and physical self in a single image. The artist also paints self-portraits and figurative works on this same, metallic, spectral manner. This painting measures 59 x 35.50 inches (150 x 90 cm) is unframed and in excellent condition.

The artist was born in 1976 in Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, and is impressively self-taught, creating works featured as the subject of top international solo and group exhibitions for over a decade. Zheng Delong is represented by the top commercial galleries in Asia, U.K., Europe and the US, and has exhibited in the "Chengdu Best Young Artist Show" 2003, in Shanghai, China, the Singapore International Art Fair in Singapore, art Miami, in Palm Beach US, Asia Art Exhibition in London, UK., among many others.
