"Waiting: Dragon" (2008) is a highly important and rare stainless steel and bronze sculpture by internationally acclaimed Chinese multi-media artist Zhang Jian (China, b. 1964) from his iconic "Waiting" Series of similar sculptures in the round, depicting figures or dragons hatching and emerging from eggs, a constant theme in Zhangs sculptures, paintings and photographs. The artist uses the image of the egg as metaphor for the rebirth of the 'new China' in recent years especially after The Cultural revolution. This work is the formal AP from an edition of 8, measures 27.56 x 19.68 x 24.4 inches (70 x 50 x 62 cm) with base and is in excellent condition.

Zhang Nian is a multi-media artist whose paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in Museums and Galleries world-wide since the 1980's, including a 2008 solo exhibit at The Today Museum, Beijing, China. The artist presently lives and works in Beijing. His work is held in the permanent collections of:
