Lot description
A stunning nude young woman kneels to the ground in an empty room, her nudity partially concealed by her pose as well as the perspective she is painted from. Wearing hardly any clothing except for lingerie and black high-heels, she inhabits an unknown mysterious space, empty of people and objects, except for a telephone that hangs on the wall above her. This large-scale oil painting is by Chinese Contemporary Realist painter, Zhang Haiying (China, b. 1972), and belongs to his world-renowned "Anti-Vice Raid Campaign Series" of large-scale figurative oil paintings which the artist began in earnest in 2008. This work measures 78.74 x 59.05 inches (200 x 150 cm) and is in excellent condition.

The artist uses deft, broad sweeping brush-strokes here for which he is famous, in an incredibly stunning manner, to intentionally imitate a blurry, photograph taken in haste, to underscore the sudden movement of her body in space. This large-scale oil painting is by Chinese Contemporary Realist painters, Zhang Haiying, and belongs to his world-renowned "Anti-Vice Raid Campaign Series" of large-scale figurative oil paintings which the artist began in earnest in 2007-2008. The Series directly addresses the Chinese government's agenda to eradicate prostitution and strip clubs throughout all major cities in China. Consisting of appropriated police photographs from strip club and brothels, Zhang's series documents these very public and abusive raids by Chinese police in a powerful and poignant manner.

Zhang Haiying (B. 1972)has exhibited at numerous locations internationally including The Saatchi Gallery "The Revolution Continues-New Chinese Art", (London, UK), Willem Kerseboom Gallery (Amsterdam, NL), and Sovereign Asia Art Foundation (Hong Kong), amongst numerous others. His paintings are exhibited throughout Asian, Europe, U.K. with the U.S market becoming aware of his world-wide appeal and rising fame as one of China's new faces of Contemporary Art. The artist lives and works in Beijing, China.
