Lot description
"Untitled no. 20" (2007) is a museum-level oil painting by famed Chinese Contemporary artist Zhang Haiying and belongs to his acclaimed "Anti-Vice Raid Campaign" Series that directly addresses the Chinese government's agenda to eradicate prostitution and strip clubs throughout all major cities in China. This painting measures 78.70 x 63 inches (200 x 160 cm) is unframed and is in perfect condition. Zhang breaks down and abstracts the physical forms of the two young women that occupy the space at the center of the canvas, painting them with luminous white paint and in broad, gestural brush-strokes, rendering his subjects as both exposed and ethereal in the dark space that they occupy.
