"Heart, No. 67" (2012) belongs to the ongoing 'Heart' series of small-scale figurative oil paintings by emerging Chinese artist Zeng Pu, begun in 2009. This dynamic portrait of an young man in profile with a long, Mohawk-style haircut is reflective of the changing culture of the Chinese youth today and acts as a snapshot of a young man in thought, captured by Zeng in a moment not of defiance or rebellion but of thought and introspection. As is typical of Zeng's famous "Heart Series", here he paints this young man against a white background, out of context, further transforming him into an apparition, as if a snapshot from a dream or memory. Zeng's gestural and fluid use of oil paint intentionally blurs all details so that when viewed up-close he becomes nearly abstracted, yet when viewed at a distance, the dynamism and composition of this portrait resonates, due to the incredible skill of Zeng as a painter. This painting measures 11.90 x 11.90 inches is unframed and in excellent condition.

Zeng Pu (B. 1982 Born: Xichang, Sichuan, China) is a rising star in Chinese Contemporary art, known for his stunning oil paintings from his already iconic "Heart" Series are based on the young people he meets in the art-scene, views on-line, or occupy his own thoughts and fantasies. He has already been the subject of an impressive roster of Museums including the Duolun Art Museum, Shanghai, China, The Macao Museum, The Nanjing Museum, and The Sichuan Art Museum amongst others. He graduated in 2004 from the Chengdu Fine Art Academy of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Sichuan, China with an Undergraduate Degree in Painting and in 2007 graduated from Chengdu Fine Art Academy of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Sichuan, China with an Advanced Degree Oil Painting. He currently lives and works in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. In 2011 his Heart Series paintings were part of the“New Stars Art Festival”, Touring Museum Exhibition that traveled to Changsha, Shenzhen and Shanghai, China and his solo exhibition “Zeng Pu” held at The China International Gallery Expo (CIGE). Beijing, China also in 2011 was met with critical acclaim.
