Lot description
"Heart, No. 63" (2010) is a surreal and stunning portrait of a beautiful young woman depicted nude in profile from her shoulders up, with her dark brunette, chic Modern hairstyle covering most of her facial features, with the exception of her lips painted in vibrant red lipstick and her delicate nose. The desire to know her identity and view her face heightens the emotional intensity of this work. This gem of a painting is by rising international young Chinese artist, Zeng Pu and belongs to Zeng's already iconic "Heart" Series of works that are each portraits of the young people he meets in the Chinese art-scene, views on-line, or occupies his own thoughts and fantasies. As is typical of Zeng's paintings from this Series, here he paints his subject against a white background, further transforming her into an apparition, as if from a dream or memory. This painting measures inches, 9.90 x 7.90 inches (25 x 21 cm) is unframed and in excellent condition.

Zeng Pu (B. 1982 Born: Xichang, Sichuan, China) is a rising star in Chinese Contemporary art, known for his stunning oil paintings from his already iconic "Heart" Series are based on the young people he meets in the art-scene, views on-line, or occupy his own thoughts and fantasies. He has already been the subject of an impressive roster of Museums including the Duolun Art Museum, Shanghai, China, The Macao Museum, The Nanjing Museum, and The Sichuan Art Museum amongst others. He graduated in 2004 from the Chengdu Fine Art Academy of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Sichuan, China with an Undergraduate Degree in Painting and in 2007 graduated from Chengdu Fine Art Academy of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Sichuan, China with an Advanced Degree Oil Painting. He currently lives and works in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. In 2011 his "Heart Series" paintings were part of theTouring Museum Exhibition that traveled to Changsha, Shenzhen and Shanghai, China and his solo exhibition.
