All proceeds from the hammer price of this lot directly benefit Magic of Persia. Established in 2004, Magic of Persia is a UK-based non-profit charity, which nurtures and develops Iranian cultural practitioners of the arts. Magic of Persia has established initiatives promoting modern, contemporary and classical Persian art, music and media in partnership with world-class institutions, including The British Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, London Film School, Royal College of Art, Saatchi Collection, Frieze Art Fair and Art Dubai amongst many others.

"Splendour no. 11" (2010) is an important and stunning abstract acrylic and glitter painting on linen canvas by Contemporary female artist Yasmine Esfandiary. Yasmine's paintings are filled with vibrant patterns and symbols from the Eastern world which she reinterprets and reconstructs through Western materials and techniques, learned while studying art in France and the United States. As the daughter of a diplomat, she grew up in a variety of Eastern and Western countries. As a result, Yasmine paintings such as "Splendour no. 11" present a dynamic visual history of a multitude of cultural appropriations, saturated with celebratory color, and loaded with historical and contemporary references. Paintings by Yasmine Esfandiary are highly sought after on the primary and secondary markets. This painting measures 66.95 x 59 inches, (170 x 150 cm) is unframed, and in excellent condition.

Yasmine Esfandiary was born in Iran in 1955 and is one of the most critically acclaimed Persian female artists of her generation. She studied at Ecole Superieure D'Art Graphique et Photographie in Paris, France, Rhode Island School of Design in Rhode Island, US, and Colorado Institute of Art in Colorado, US. Her works have been exhibited throughout the US, and Europe, and are included in the permanent collections of Linda Bahn and Francesca Benini Bossi.
