Lot description
"Girl with Fan" is a rare and stunning figurative color print by internationally famed Chinese Contemporary artist Walasse Ting (1929-2010), which combines two of his most iconic and favored themes: women and brightly colored birds in a eloquent composition that belies influence from Western artists such as Matisse. A vibrant pink background is in lively visual contrast to the colorful tropical parrots that gaze upon the beautiful nude reclining woman, who peers seductively out from behind a large yellow fan that she holds up to her face. This print is from an edition 250, measures 24.02 x 35.82 inches (61 x 91 cm), is unframed in excellent condition.

Walasse Ting (B. 1929, Shanghai, China, D. 2010, New York, New York) is a Chinese-American visual artist who was known for his fresh, vibrant, and highly colorful paintings. His work was influenced by expressionist styles and used a distinct Chinese calligraphy brushstroke in order to create figures within his work. Images of insects, women, birds, and flowers are often themes for his art and elude to Ting’s love of sensory pleasure in the natural world. SELECTED PUBLIC COLLECTIONS:The Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; The Chicago Art Institute, Chicago, IL; The Tate Gallery, London; Centre Pompidou, Paris; The Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong.
