One of the main images from Smith's powerful photo documentary on Minamata disease caused by mercury posioning dumped into Minamata Bay by the Chisso Corportaion. This image was published across two pages in Smith's monumemental book "Minamata", published in 1975.

This print was used to promote the Minamata book and was intended for use in magazines and newspapers. It has remarkably good tone, resolution and clarity.

Single weight, semi gloss, fiber base silver gelatin silver print from a master negative, printed under Smith's supervision.

Concerning condition: print has a few finger dings, as well as a few scratches in the white margin areas. There is also a very minor amount of warping in the margins, but this does not affect the image.
