Only an edition of 10, this moving Self-Portait by Vik Muniz touches the viewer through the Muniz's powerful gaze and his depiction of swirling soil, which masks his true form while dually serving as shield from the camera's harsh lens.

Vik Muniz was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1961. Now based in New York, this multi-media artist is known for using unconventional medium to create images that he then photographs resulting in the final piece of artwork. Muniz has worked with foods including peanut butter and jelly, sugar and chocolate syrup and most recently has put his unique mediums to the test by incoroprating garabage in his works.
