This lithograph by Tal R employs bright primary colors and repetitive imagery. He creates a sense of depth by layering the images and the viewer gets a sense that the action occurring on a stage behind the blue curtain.

Tal R was born in Tel Aviv in 1967 and now lives and works in Copenhagen. Tal R's work has a playful simplicity that reminds one of a child's artwork with his use of limited, bright color palettes and bold shapes and imagery. In fact, his painting is complex and layered, drawing on the traditions of painterly abstraction and expression. Despite its cheerful nature, his work often addresses the myth of creation as well as darker themes. His way of finding images and inspiration from both high and low culture is a method he often refers to as "kolbojnik," which means "leftovers" in Hebrew. Tal R has had solo exhibitions at Kunsthalle Tübingen, Tübingen (2009), Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht (2008), Camden Arts Centre, London (2008), Louisiana Museum for Moderne Kunst, Denmark (2007), and Kunsthalle Mannheim (2007), and currently holds a Guest Professorship at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
