"Miss Sweet" (2003-2004) is an exciting original work on paper by internationally acclaimed Contemporary Japanese artist Shintaro Miyake (Japan, b. 1970) that depicts his favorite character and main protagonist, known as "Sweet-san", who is always depicted with an open-mouthed smile and an easy-going demeanor. Created in Miyake's signature method of obsessive layering and mark-making with crayons and colored pencils, this work is a dynamic portrait of "Miss Sweet" rendered here as playful and innocently sexually. This work is new to the secondary market, offered here for the first time at auction and measures 43.13 x 45.67 inches (107 x 116 cm). This work is custom framed to larger dimensions and is in excellent condition (listed frame sizes are approximate).

Shintaro Miyake was born in Tokyo in 1970 and received his BFA at Tama Art University in Tokyo in 1996. His many museum and gallery exhibitions including the 2012 solo show "a Commonplace Tale" at Metaphysical Art Gallery, Taipei, Taiwan and the 2011 museum exhibition: "To Be with Art is All We Ask" Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo Norway. In 2009 his work was included in the seminal traveling exhibition:"neoteny japan: Contemporary Artists after 1990s from Takahashi Collection" [touring Sapporo Art Park, Hokkaido, Japan, 2008-09 / The Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art、Niigata, Japan 2009 / Akita Museum of Modern Art、Akita, Japan 2009 / Yonago City Museum of Art、Tottori, Japan 2009-2010 / The Museum of Art EHIME、Ehime, Japan 2010 ]. Additional museum shows include 2006:"Berlin - Tokyo / Tokyo - Berlin" Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin, German and in 2005: "JaPan PoP" Helsinki City Art Museum, Finland. Miyake is represented by the prestigious Tomio Komoyama gallery, Tokyo and also by Richard Heller Gallery in the U.S. Miyake's works are held in many top private and public collections including:
