"In Control" is a stunning sculpture in the round by famous Chinese artist Shi Lifeng, that belongs to his most recent series of realist paintings and sculptures from his so-called 'Utopia" Series. This is a unique sculpture (edition 1 of 1) made from brilliant-red, cast fiberglass. The artist began this series of one-of-a-kind sculptures in 2010 and they are an exciting and important direction for the artist.

The title and subject of the piece, "In Control", begs the question, who really is in control of the population and younger generations in China, decades after the Mao regime? Shi Lifeng depicts Mao here in a typical pose, pillar-like, with one arm raised high in salute, standing upon a base. Denizens of Shi's iconic, miniature red figures crawl and play in delight with red roses blooming all over the surface of the statue. The incredible level of detail and surreal features are remarkable and make this a true masterpiece.

Shi Lifeng (b. 1968, China) is world-famous, and in the top Museum and Private Collections, world-wide. Shi Lifeng has exhibited his work at the Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art (Shanghai, China), Yang Gallery (Singapore), and Beijing Contemporary Art Museum (Beijing, China), Jiri Arts Museum, (Beijing, China)amongst others, with solo exhibitions throughout Europe and Asia. The artist received his formal training with a Degree from the Hebei Normal University, Hebei Province, China in 1991.
