‘Marilyn' after Warhol silkscreen’;
Considered an "artist's artist" and collected as such until his 2005 Retrospective at the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art , RICHARD PETTIBONE made miniatures—such as this Marilyn—appropriated from American Contemporary Masters, including Johns, Stella, Lichtenstein and Ruscha. This Marilyn on red was executed in 1978 after the Andy Warhol silkscreen from 1968.
