Lot description
"Francis Bacon" (2009), is one of the most exciting Neo-Pop portraits by internationally acclaimed Chinese Contemporary artist Ren Zhenyu (China, b. 1976). This is the only portrait of Francis bacon that Ren has painted to-date, employing his iconic staccato brush-stroke an intense blue-based color palette to create an unabashedly dynamic image of the British artist. This painting measures 39.37 x 35.43 inches (100 x 90 cm) is in excellent condition. Ren is known for his portraits of the world’s most famous cultural icons, including Andy Warhol and Damien Freud, Marilyn Monroe, Mao, Che Guevara, U.S. President Obama, and the British Royal Family among others. His artistic influences range from Yan Pei Ming, Vincent van Gogh, Lucien Freud and Jenny Saville.

Born in China in 1976, Ren Zhenyu graduated in 1999 from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Art. His work has been exhibited in solo and group Museums shows world wide, most recently at The Shanghai Art Museum, China. He is represented by prestigious galleries in China, Europe and the U.K. and his paintings are held in select private and public collections in the U.S, U.K, Australia, Singapore, Europe and throughout Asia.
