Lot description
Quik – Titled "Large Felix" . Enamel, acrylic and Spray paint on NYC Transit Map. 2012. Measures approx 23 × 29 Inches.

Quik's iconic use of exploding bold colors is typified in this work'The Art Dealer’. Pushing the boundaries between high art and graffiti, Quik constantly brings new dimensionality to his art by incorporating main stream cultural and pop icons into his work. Here, the artist employs the well known face of Felix the Cat, covering the famous feline with a brilliant smattering of colors and rendering the character with an enormous cartoon smile.

Growing up in Queens, New York, Lin Felton aka 'Quik' (b. 1958) started tagging around his neighborhood during the 1970’s and by the 1980's he was one of the few New York graffiti artists to be shown in art galleries and museums. Throughout his career, Quik's artistic style has matured to include ironic commentaries on social, political, and personal topics while still maintaining his personality and the spirit of graffiti. Quik has exhibited widely throughout the United States and abroad, with recent solo shows at Green Flowers Art Gallery, Boulogne-Billancourt, France; AAA Gallery, Rotterdam, Netherlands; Avenir Finance, Paris, France; and Galerie Arte Ventuno, Brussels.
