'Summer Splendor" by Vietnamese Post-Modern painter Pham Luan is a major example of the work that has made his paintings internationally sought-after, namely vibrant, lush landscape oil paintings that capture the places and people of his native country. This painting is a major example of the artists use of bold dabs of saturated color and use of light in his landscapes. This painting intergrates light and color as the foundation for the landscape. Whether it is an ancient street in the old quarters in Hanoi, or in this case a vibrant field of flowers in bloom as here, the artist is always in constant search for the best and most sophisticated use of color in and an unqiue compositional perspectives. He paints with an energy and emotion that is reflected in his iconic and deft, saturated brush-stokes that have come to define his paintings.

Pham Luan is one of the most established artists painting today in Vietnam. Luan is entirely self-taught. The artist's work has been exhibited world-wide, including solo exhibitions that first began in Hanoi in 1991, then on to Hong Kong, Chicago, New York and London, and Europe for the past two decades. The artist has firmly established his place in the international art and auction arena.
