Screen-print, edition of 150
23.64in x 27.55in

Patrick Caulfield (1936-2005) is internationally renowned as one of Britain's greatest Pop artists, along with David Hockney, R.B. Kitaj, and Allen Jones, among others. A celebrated painter and printmaker, Caulfield is best known for his brightly colored Pop prints. 'Paris Separates' exemplifies many elements of the artist's trademark aesthetic: thick dark outlines, rounded, cartoon-like shapes, and stark and saturated contrast. His prints consistently evoke a simplicity, an attention to basic geometric forms and ultimately a devotion to the tradition of still-life. Caulfield established a Pop aesthetic all his own by depicting subject matter that was not tied to one specific time period or culture. The artist was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1987.
