Lot description
Designed in 1970 as a dedication to Joe DiMaggio, this oversized baseball glove entitled 'Joe' was the product of cooperation between architectural designers Donato D'Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi. This work in tobacco brown is comprised of a steel frame, preformed polyurethane foam padding, leather upholstery and hidden swiveling mechanism, and comes from the Studio De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi. One of the original editions currently resides in the Museum of Modern Art's collection in New York.

This work is in pristine condition and has never been removed from the original crate.

Since 1966, Donato D'Urbino, Paolo Lomazzi and Jonathan de Pas have collaborated on numerous interior decorations, architectural designs, accessories, and even consulted as town planners. Combining elements of industrial design and technologies with cultural icons, the trio created specialized furniture and objects which reflected the formidably unique trend of Italian design. They have won such awards as the 'Compasso d'Oro' in 1979 and have gained notoriety for their pneumatic living units seen at the Osaka World Expo in 1967.
