This work, entitled “Ears”, was exhibited alongside segmented portraits, showing sitters in distinct pieces but aligned to resemble a full figure. This style, that divides the figure into distinguishable body parts, is a component within Winokur’s overall style. His first works featured people in full, which progressed into segmented body parts, and later were replaced by individual objects against blank, colorful backgrounds. This work is particularly intriguing in the manner that Winokur first divided the figure and later assembled and displayed a compilation of singular body parts.

Once a traditional portrait photographer, American artist Neil Winokur (b.1945) has built his career by transforming images of people and familiar objects into works of fine art. Winokur, born in New York, NY, earned a B.A. at Hunter College in 1967 and soon after began to pursue his passion for photography. He was initially inspired by long-established Hollywood glamour shots but eventually abandoned traditional photographs of people in favor of photographing stationary objects, the sole focus of his most recent gallery exhibitions. His contemporary photographs are reminiscent of the Pop Art genre that first became popular in the 1960s and have been brought back to life through Winokur’s vivid photographs. Winokur's works have been featured in various exhibitions, including two at the Museum of Modern Art (1984 & 1991) and a solo show at the Denver Art Museum (1993).
