Lot description
Meret Oppenheim, "Traccia" table is a rare, vintage work from 1971.

Designed in 1939 and originally produced in 1971 by Simon International / Dino Gavina in a limited edition of 300, Meret Oppenheim’s Traccia table is a quintessential surrealist piece. A gold-leaf elliptical table top which evokes the austerity of high decorative arts, is set atop spindly, cast bronze, bird legs. Footprints walk across the surface of the table adding to the inherent humor of the piece.

Meret Oppenheim (B.1913, Berlin, Germany – D. 1985, Bassel, Switzerland) was a Surrealist artist known for exploring female sexuality in her works. Oppenheim was raised in Switzerland and Southern Germany but became engrossed with Surrealism upon meeting Man Ray, Jean Arp, and Alberto Giacometti in Paris. The artist was also one of Man Ray's favorite models, appearing in his sensual photographs depicting her in provocative poses with a printing press.
