Lot description
Max Weber was a Russian-born Jewish American Cubist painter famous for the preeminent Jewish themes in his work. The impoverished immigrant saved enough money to send himself to Paris to study with Picasso and Henri Rousseau. In 1930 the Museum of Modern Art held a retrospective of his work, the museum's first solo exhibition of an American artist. His work can be seen at world renowned museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Walker Art Center, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
