Lot description
This 2006 sculpture by Matt Johnson typifies the artist's use of wit, paradox, and juxtaposition to bring out the special qualities of his chosen materials. In "Buddha Crab," a bronze crab plated in 24-karat gold is posed atop a tall mound of epoxy-fixed sand, inviting both contemplation and an appreciation of the surreal.

Artwork measures 14 x 14 x 13 inches (35.6 x 35.6 x 33 cm).
