Lot description
Original Margaret Kilgallen painting on plywood

Kilgallen was a cerebral artist, whose work was heavily informed by hobo train writing, folk art, and signage, as we see in this example. Her husband and often collaborator is Barry McGee, aka TWIST. Kilgallen died in 2001 of breast cancer, just three weeks after the birth of her daughter.

Purchased from Private Collector in New Jersey. This piece is from a group of 5 pieces sold through the Deitch gallery in NYC. A copy of the Deitch Gallery inventory sheet (see photos) will be provided to the winning buyer.
