Lot description

Innovative felt chair by Australian designer Marc Newson for Cappellini. The chair is constructed of reinforced fiberglass with a polished natural aluminum back leg, giving it its distinct unique three legged appearance. Can be used both indoors and out. One spot of paint loss on its underside, otherwise in very good condition.

Born in Sydney in 1963, Newson earned a degree in jewelery and sculpture from the Sydney college of the Arts before beginning an immensely successful career in design. Earning his living primarily as an industrial designer, Newson has created designs for everything from aircraft's to buildings to furniture, jewelery and clothing. Now a professor of design at his alma mater, he was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of the Year in 2005.
