Lot description
Image size is 15 x 15 inches (38.1 x 38.1 cm). Framed dimensions are 20.5 x 20.5 inches (52.1 x 52.1 cm). Work is framed with museum glass.

Evincing the delicacy and haunting clarity that characterize many of the artist's portraits, "The Waving Girl" depicts a young girl with her hand raised, her expression leaving it ambiguous whether it is a gesture of greeting or farewell. The girl dwarfs the landscape receding behind her, giving the image a surrealistic quality. This work is signed, dated, titled, and numbered; it comes from a small edition of 7.
