This 1996 painting by Linda Stojak evinces a subtle poetics, with dark hands and lips trailing across a vast, pale expanse. A wash of blue-based tones at the center of the canvas introduces a gentle ambiguity, situating the work squarely between the sensual and the abstract.

Artwork measures 60 x 60.3 inches (152.4 x 153.2 cm).

Linda Stojak is a contemporary American painter. Stojak received her BFA from Arcadia University in 1978 and her MFA from the Pratt Institute in 1980. Her work has been exhibited at Stephen Hallery Gallery, New York, NY (2004, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2012) and the Art Students League of New York (2006), among others. She was the recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 1996, and has also received a Distinguished Achievement Award from Arcadia University (2000), a Leeway Foundation Grant (2000), and a Toblach Grant from the International Academy for Painting & Digital Photography, Toblach, Italy (2005).
