Lot description
"McDonald's" (2007) is a highly important and rare porcelain sculpture by famed Chinese Contemporary artist Li Lihong. Dimensions 17.7 x 9.1 x 14.2 inches (45 x 23.1 x 36.1 cm), and is in excellent condition. One of three produced, not numbered. The conflation of the iconic 'M' slogan of McDonald's with traditional Chinese porcelain patterns explores issues of tradition, cultural identity and consumerism. The limited edition of this piece is due to the difficult process of porcelain production, underscoring the contradiction between the precious and the mass-produced. This is the first edition of this work to come to auction since 2008, and was featured on the cover of "Art + Auction" magazine (please see attached image).
