Lot description
modern_2013
Le Corbusier (1887-1965) has been called the founder of modernism and the most influential architect of the 20th century. Perhaps less well known is the fact that he was also a highly accomplished and celebrated artist who founded the Purist art movement with French Cubist Amédée Ozenfant. Purism abandoned the complex structures of analytical cubism to focus on pure, pared down geometry and forms. These same principles were used by Le Corbusier in developing his architectural practices.

This work has Mourlot Estate stamp on verso, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Provenance from Mourlot.
Original stone lithograph by Le Corbusier titled Taurus, published by Mourlot.
