Lot description
Cockfight, from the artist’s 1985 series 3 Lithographs series, utilizes classic Haring iconography. The dynamic figures, highlighted with red accents and a bright red border, call to mind Haring’s subway drawings and other public art projects that brought him critical acclaim and international recognition.

Keith Haring (1958-1990) uses bold lines, vivid colors and figures to create a visual language that expresses strong messages of life, unity, love, sex and war. At age 19 Haring moved to New York to study at the School of Visual Arts; he first achieved public attention with his chalk drawings in the subways of New York City. In 1989, the artist established the Keith Haring Foundation which provides funding to AIDS organizations and children’s programs.
