Lot description
The consistently Abstract nature of Joan Miro's works, seen here in this print, lends well to the surreal dream-like ambiance stylistic of the artist's work. This work measures 33.66 x 28.54 inches (85.5 x 72.5 cm), is edition 100 of 150 and in excellent condition.

One of the twentieth century's most prolific and recognized Modern artists, Joan Miró (1893–1983) created pictorial spaces that combined imaginative and cosmic elements. Miró employed a characteristic style described as flowing and calligraphic. In his compositions, he created worlds of abstract, amorphous forms that resemble shorthand signs and symbols. Along with André Masson, Miró was one of the first artists to engage in automatism within the realm of painting. It was this technique that pushed Surrealism into its own as an independent art movement. Miró's artwork has been displayed in museums and galleries worldwide, gaining international fame and earning great success at auction. Some of the artist's most recent and notably exhibitions include solo shows at The National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC (2012); Tate Modern, London, England (2011); and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY (2010).
