Lot description
Framed size: 50 x 43 inches

One of the twentieth century's greatest Modern artists, Joan Miró (1893-1983) created pictorial space where imaginative and cosmic elements were combined with common symbols from our everyday world. Miró employed his characteristic flowing calligraphic style to create a world of abstract forms that resemble shorthand signs and symbols. Along with André Masson, Miró was one of the first artists to develop automatic drawing within the format of the painting process; his automated drawing technique was the beginning of Surrealism as an art movement.
