Lot description
One of Dines' most beautiful "Venus" images, printed using lithographic stones, brilliantly colored. Based on one of his public sculpture commissions in New York City - three bronze versions of the Venus de Milo completed in 1989, entitled 'Looking towards the Avenue', outside the Credit Lyonnais Building on the Avenue of the Americas, between 52nd and 53rd Streets. Dines' spectacular drawing ability demonstrates that even a classical subject, considered moribund by most contemporary artists, can be reinvented by the hands of a master.
