Lot description
This print was produced in conjunction with Deller’s 1996 performance piece entitled “Acid Brass.” In the performance, Deller had a coal pit brass band play acid house anthems, and created a drawing that mapped the connections between the world of acid house music and miners’ brass bands. The drawing served as a basis for the print, and the performance was recorded and presented on CD. As a whole, the work symbolized the possibility of a productive collaboration between the old and new cultures. An edition of this work is part of the permanent collection of the Tate.
