Lot description
"Somewhere to Light: Waco, Texas" was created by Pop Art legend James Rosenquist in 1966 -- the most desirable and influential era -- for the legendary New York International Portfolio by Tanglewood Press, curated by Rosa Esman, which featured prints by nine other important international artists of the era including Arman, Mary Bauermeister, Öyvind Fahlström, John Goodyear, Charles Hinman, Allen Jones, Robert Motherwell, Ad Reinhardt, and Saul Steinberg. Rosenquist's stunning serigraph from this portfolio is in the permanent collection of major institutions such as the Brooklyn Museum.

James Rosenquist (b. 1933) is one of the last living American Pop Art legends. His most recent project was completing the ceiling mural for the Palais de Chaillot in Paris for the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Rights of Man by Eleanor Roosevelt. Rosenquist is known for his innovative printmaking, and, among many honors, was recognized last year by the International Print Center for his lifetime achievement. He has had retrospectives at the Whitney Museum and the Guggenheim and many other museums worldwide.
