"Chinese Carnival no. 5" (2008) is an important and exciting color photograph by famed Chinese multi-media artistic duo Huang Keyi and Chen Zhuo. This large-scale photographs by Huang Keyi and Chen Zhuo is a very rare and one of their most sought-after images. This is the first edition of this work to ever come to auction, world-wide. This is edition 5 of 7, measures 47.25 x 70.87 inches (120 x 180 cm) and is in perfect condition "Chinese Carnival no. 5" is a ironic yet subversive, surreal narrative, with three traditional Chinese figurative statues of rulers here made into over-life size, smiling creatures, invading and destroying a Chinese city, in humorous and subversive context, replacing famous monsters such as Godzilla. The duo takes over on month to complete each work, painstakingly conflating real and virtual images and ornate details via digital manipulation of their photographs.

As part of the younger "'80's Generation" of Chinese artists, Huang Keyi (China, 1980) and Chen Zhuo (China, 1978) find video and color photography and Photoshop to be the perfect marriage of media for their exuberant views of the "New China".
