Lot description
Howard Cook was born in Spingfield, MA, later moving to New York to study at the Art Student League with Max Weber and Joseph Pennel. He created woodcuts for publications including Atlantic Monthly and Harper's. In the late 1920s, he left for the southwest, eventually settling near Taos, NM. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in Fresco and Printmaking and was awarded a Logan Medal from the Art Institute of Chicago.
