"Boxman" is a dynamic figurative painting by famed Japanese Contemporary Artist, Hiroyuki Matsuura who is internationally known for his unique take on Japanese anime as well as the Contemporary 'Super-Flat' style of painting. Matsuura’s characters are intense, direct and immediate, often in super-cropped figural compositions, as seen here and the artist is critically acclaimed for his use of bright colors. "Boxman" was exhibited in 2008 in the show: "This is Asia", Andrew James Art, Shanghai, China and in 2007: "Japanese Contemporary", Gallery Sun Contemporary, Seoul, Korea. Note this work is framed is a clear acrylic box frame to protect the surface and sides of the work. The painting is in perfect condition and measures 36.25 x 36.25 inches.

Hiroyuki Matsuura was born in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. He bean his career in the arts as a graphic designer in 1984, designing advertising, packaging, binding, and logos in Japan. From 1999 onwards, he started to use “character illustration” as themes to create “Poster + Package + Skateboard” designs. After he received the elite “Scout Prize” in 2001 at Takashi Murakami’s “GEIJUTSU-DOUJOU/GP at MOT” exhibition, Matsuura was embraced as a serious artist on the Contemporary Japanese art scene. Hiroyuki Matsuura has become one of the hottest Japanese artists in current art market, with works exobiology and collected world-wide and represented by the top galleries internationally.
