Lot description
"Red, Blue, and Green Series V" (2007 ) is a dynamic and important example of the work of emerging Chinese Contemporary artist Ge Guanzhong (China, B. 1977). Here, land, water, and air are viewed within an iconic Chinese star against a patterned background. Ge's style and subjects include bold political colors and shapes juxtaposed over mystical landscape scenes that mimic traditional ink paintings. This combination of old and new techniques mirror the Contemporary Chinese society that has rapidly transformed from rural villages and open hills to skyscrapers and urban landscapes. This work is in excellent condition. This work measures 35.50 x 35.50 inches, and is in excellent condition.

Ge Guanzhong graduated in 2000 with a BFA from the Department of Oil Painting, Harbin Normal University, China and also received an MFA Degree from the Xu Beihong Art College of Renmin, University of China. Premier Wen Jiabao selected a work by Ge Guanzhong as a national gift for the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in 2008. The artist has been included in many large exhibitions like the "Shanghai Fine Art Exhibition of Emerging Artists" in Shanghai, the "New Generation of Ink Painters" in Hong Kong, Art Miami in the United States, the Third Chengdu Biennale in Chengdu, China, and has works in the Renmin University collection in China. Guanzhong currently lives and works in Beijing.
