Lot description
This print exhibits Hume's desire to reduce shapes and colors to their simplest forms. Here, the two roses are almost unidentifiable which asks the question "a rose by any other name..."

Born in 1962 in Kent, England, Gary Hume worked as an assistant film editor before quitting in the 1980s to focus on art. In 1988 he graduated from Goldsmith’s College in London, where he currently lives and works. His earliest well-known works were his “door paintings”, which were life-size replicas of hospital doors. In the 1990’s he concentrated on paintings in gloss paint on aluminum. He has been exhibiting since 2000 in Sweden, England, Ireland, Germany, and the U.S. among other countries. In 2001, he was made a Royal Academician.
